5th GBM

October 24, 2018

AIAA hosts their 5th GBM, they invited Northrop Grumman’s Systems Engineer Charles Banuelos. Banuelos discussed his story of becoming a Systems Engineer at Northrop; he also discussed life after college as an engineer. Banuelos even gave important life advice regarding the hiring process and how to properly engage in job interviews regarding engineering in the aerospace industry. Banuelos answered many questions the AIAA members had about an aerospace engineering career.

Cha4tea fundraising 

October 3, 2018

Fundraising chair Jeanine Aguilar established a business agreement with Cha4tea to share the profit with AIAA when people purchase drinks from the establishment. The portion of the proceeds go to AIAA’s funds which would help run future AIAA events and projects, benefitting AIAA members.

Jet Propulsion Lab Tour

September 28, 2018

AIAA had a tour inside NASA’s jet propulsions lab. AIAA gave its members an opportunity of observing all that takes place in a jet propulsions lab. Outreach officer Ian Clavo and membership chair Sean Won accompanied the members during the tour.

3rd GBM with Guest Speaker

September 22, 2018

AIAA hosted its third general body meeting on September 22, 2018. The organization managed to invite a guest speaker from Boeing. Doug Mushet space craft integration and test project manager in Boeing spoke of his time as an aerospace engineer student. Then discussed his experiences in Boeing working on capsules and rockets that sent astronauts into space. He provided the members with significant advice about being an aerospace engineer major and how to become a successful aerospace engineer in the industry.

Outreach at Cabrillo

September 19, 2018

Ian Clavo the outreach officer presents AIAA to students at Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo High School. The students at the presentation looked forward into joining AIAA especially when AIAA’s rocket program was shown. Lead teacher Mr. Fisher was intrigued about AIAA and looked forward for future events with AIAA; he even invited AIAA to attend the STEM car show the following day.
